Fun days out for the whole family in line with government guidelines

With the potential easing of restrictions just around the corner, the whole of the UK are starting to think about leaving the same four walls of their house that they have previously been confined to. Are you starting to think about planning some fun days out that the whole family will enjoy?

We know that a holiday abroad is probably out of the question for now, but there’s still plenty of family days out to be had closer to home.

HOW ARE THE RESTRICTIONS CHANGING?

We have already seen the majority of children head back to the classroom in the UK. No doubt by the time the Easter holidays come, everyone will be wanting to finally make some well deserved memories. If you’ve been keeping up with the government announcements, you’ll know that there will still be some restrictions in place until at least the early summer. However if you’re unsure of the upcoming changes, here’s a quick summary:

29th March

From 29th March, the rule of 6 will be reinstated. Allowing up to 2 households or 6 people to meet outdoors, even in public gardens and spaces. Safe family time can resume!

12th April

Now this is a very important date… Not only is it a provisional opening date for all of our Diggerland park’s, it is also the opening of companies in other sectors. The UK will see the reopening of non-essential shops, beauty businesses and indoor leisure facilities. It may be a huge thing for adults, but the pubs will be allowed to serve customers outdoors. However, we think taking the kids to Diggerland will definitely be a better day out for the whole family to enjoy. The 12th April is a huge date for any outdoor attraction, and we can’t wait to hopefully open!

17th May

No earlier than the 17th May, step 3 will be introduced. The UK will hopefully be able to apply the rule of 6 or two households to an indoor gathering as well. By this point, we would hope that the majority of businesses will be able to reopen including indoor entertainment areas, and accommodation. Great news for anyone planning a UK staycation.. You’ll be able to travel to any of our 4 UK Diggerland parks and spend a night in the area too. Planning fun days out won’t be as limited!

FUN DAYS OUT THAT THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN ENJOY

So for now, let’s start planning some fun days out that even the kids can enjoy.

Diggerland

Top of the list had to be planning fun days out to Diggerland. Obviously, from 12th April!

If you haven’t heard of Diggerland before, we have three UK based parks in Kent, Durham and Yorkshire.

We are the UK’s only construction based theme park. All of our rides and drives are based on existing construction machinery. The best thing about us is that kids and adults alike can get behind the controls of real life diggers and dig to their heart’s content. fun days out - dippy ducks

With 20 different rides and drives, there really is something for everyone. Take a spin on our Dig-a-round, take in the views from 50 feet in the air on Skyshuttle, or hunt for buried treasure on our mini diggers!

Visit your local nature trails

Some people may still be reluctant to venture too far from home even when restrictions are lifted, and we have the perfect idea for a day out. Visit your local nature trails and enjoy the fresh air. Now that spring is on our doorstep, fingers crossed the great British weather holds out. Getting outdoors is proven to reduce stress and anxiety, improve your mood and your physical health according to Mind.

Why not make a day of it, and prepare a picnic to enjoy. It’s handy to keep snacks ready, especially if you have younger kids!

Family BBQ

A family BBQ would normally be an easy occasion to plan, however it is now influenced by two things. Waiting until restrictions allow families to meet, and again the weather!

Now we’ve all experienced a BBQ that’s not gone quite right, and the sky has clouded over and the heavens have opened, but remain optimistic!

Getting together safely in a private garden, enjoying good food and having a laugh sounds perfect to us! As they say laughter is the best medicine too.

Let’s hope the weather this year is just as good as the scorching days in 2020!
