Brand New Diggerland Promotional Video – Filmed Summer 2017

The brand new Diggerland Promotional Video proves that the UK did have sunshine.

Summer of 2017 was not the best for UK weather. Will it be sun, rain or snow (who knew)? OK, maybe for that last part perhaps is pushing it.

On that glorious day, the video shows off all of the brilliant attractions and family fun that Diggerland has on offer to everyone.

The Diggerland promotional video beautifully captures all of the majestic diggers in action. From the Spindizzy, to the Go-Karts tearing down the chicane and would you believe that a digger can hook a duck!
Yes, it’s true, all of it.

The Diggerland promotional video really presents the sheer excitement and discovery that the whole family has on every visit to Diggerland Parks.

From 4 to 94, the family fun atmosphere never stops. Whether you are being spun on the Spindizzy or raised into blue yonder on the Skyshuttle. Check our mascots Duggy and Dotty enjoying the cameras and their day around Diggerland guests.

The promo video is a true statement of what Diggerland does to the highest standard.

With fun and sun thriving, safety will always remain a paramount requirement at Diggerland, that’s represented in our superb 4.5/5 Tripadvisor rating of over 2000 reviews.

Yet, I hear you sigh and ask “Where can I come to this land where my children can enjoy, learn and play on their oversized toys?” Yet, fear not Digger Devotees, the directions to all 4 of our current parks await you at journey’s end.

A Day In The Life Of A Diggerland Marshal

Ever wanted to know what it’s like to live in the day of a Diggerland Park Marshal?

We asked our Park Marshal Samantha to give us the low-down…

Name: Samantha

Age: 18

Job title: Diggerland Park Marshal

Length of time working at Diggerland: 2 seasons

Marshals day-to-day routine

Diggerland:

How do you get ready to start your day?

Samantha:

My day starts with my morning alarm clock waking me up at 8:15am.

I fight my way into the bathroom to get ready, and then get dressed into my Diggerland uniform.

Breakfast is usually cereal, I have quite big bowl as you burn a lot of energy being a Diggerland Park Marshal. I also pack some snacks and water to see me through the day.

I beg my mum to drive me to work in her car, sometimes she obliges. If mum is busy that day, I walk to the local bus stop to catch the bus. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get to work, depending on if I am driven or get the bus.

What the job entails – on a daily basis

Diggerland:

How do you start off the morning at Diggerland?

Samantha:

When I arrive at work I clock in so that my manager knows when I have arrived. I usually clock in at 9.30am, as the park opens at 10:00am and I need to get sorted before opening.

I then put all my things in my locker, making sure I turn off my mobile phone so that it does not ring whilst I am at work.

Each morning starts with a Diggerland briefing, where our General Manager motivates us and tells us the aims and objectives for the day.

I’m then told which ride I’ll be operating for the day and then I’ll go to that attraction to check over the machine with the mechanic / fitter.

I might have to oil the machine, put diesel in the machine, or if it is an electric ride I’d have to ensure all the batteries are charged. If there are any problems, I would have to report this to our Park Manager straight away.

If all is well, we open and let customers enjoy the attractions.

Diggerland:

What do you do for lunch?

Samantha:

It depends on whether I have packed a lunch for the day. If I have, then I will sit and eat my lunch in the staff room.

Otherwise I will purchase food from the Dig Inn cafe and eat my food inside the cafe or on the grass outside, out of view of customers, just in case I decide to check my phone.

Diggerland:

What do you do in the afternoon?

Samantha:

In the afternoon I will ensure my ride or drive is all okay. I will check the battery if it is an electric run attraction. I will check the fuel levels. If my attraction requires any assistance I will notify the Park Manager, who will call for the fitter/mechanic if required.

Marshals thoughts on working at Diggerland

Diggerland:

What do you like most about working at Diggerland?

Samantha:

The thing I like most about working at Diggerland is that no two days are the same.

One day I’ll be working on Spindizzy, and the next I’ll be on Skyshuttle. I love this because it gives variety.

Diggerland:

What is your highlight of working at Diggerland? Has there been a particular day that stood out?

Samantha:

The best day ever is when we had a little blind boy come to the park. Him and his family thought he would never drive a car in his life. We changed that for the little boy at Diggerland. Slowly and steadily he drove our Joyrider around the track, listening carefully to instructions given to him by the Marshal. The parents cried and it definitely brought a tear to my eye. It was a really special day.

The best thing is seeing the kids really happy and enjoying a day out with their family or friends.

Marshal’s outside life

Diggerland:

What do you do when you’re not working at Diggerland?

Samantha:

When I’m not working at Diggerland, I go to college. Currently I am studying a level 3 course in Business.

I also go to Army Cadets, I’m quite an active person and love to be outdoors.

Diggerland:

Do you get together with the other Diggerland Park Marshals?

Samantha:

Yes, the team all frequently get together. We might finish work and go bowling in the evening or go for a meal.

I really like it because everyone is really friendly, it’s just like one big happy family.

Marshal talks more about the job

Diggerland:

Where do you hope to go with this job, or your career in general?

Samantha:

I hope to go on to university to study Business. I’d quite like to see myself in a Customer Service Manager role.

Diggerland provides a great stepping stone for building upon your career.

I have learnt vital customer service skills and how to work well in a team, which are all really good transferable skills that I can use for any career path I wish to take.

Diggerland:

What challenges do you face in your job? How do you overcome them?

Samantha:

Sometimes we get upset customers because their children are too small for the ride. We have to explain that this is for health & safety reasons.

Diggerland:

What would you advise to anyone looking to join The Diggerland Team?

Samantha:

To become a Diggerland Park Marshal you need to be willing to learn new things, you need to not mind working outdoors, and you need to love kids. First and foremost you need to have a desire to help create fantastic memories for children and their families.

Diggerland Top Tips!

We have had a great half-term here at Diggerland! We have been digging for buried treasure, spotting animals on our safari and spun dizzy on Spindizzy. But it is not over yet and you still have all weekend to treat the kids. What better way to finish the week than with a family trip to Diggerland?!

Diggerland - Diggerland Top Tips

Here are 6 of our Diggerland Top Tips for your visit:

1. Drink lots.

Make sure to keep hydrated throughout the day. With such great weather at the moment, it is important to drink plenty of water. However don’t worry if you have forgotten your water bottle, we have catering establishments on site!

2. If you think it is going to rain, we recommend you bring wellies and a waterproof jacket.

Diggerland - Diggerland WelliesAll of our rides operate as normal in the rain. However be sure to bring your wellies and waterproofs just-in-case, as it may get a little bit muddy!

Additional Diggerland Top Tips: If your little ones love the mud, it may be a good idea to bring some spare clothes. Think of those poor car seats…

Check the weather for your trip here.

If you have forgotten your child’s wellies, or simply need a new pair, head over to our online shop. These digtastic wellies are affordable and durable, currently available in sizes 5-13.

3. Plenty of sun cream.

Please ensure you and your kids are kept safe from the sun. Most Diggerland activities are outdoors, and sometimes people can forget to top up their sun cream. The British weather has been very hot and sunny the past couple of weeks, so remember to take breaks to top up your sun cream in between having buckets of fun.

Find out more about keeping your kids safe in the sun here.

4. Remember to bring food.

Diggerland - Dig Inn Food

Whilst we have eateries on site, you may also bring a picnic if you wish. We have an outdoor picnic area, so you don’t have to miss out on the sun or worry about any food allergies. If you do wish to buy food at Diggerland, remember to bring some money with you!

Speaking of money…

5. Bring some pound coins!

All of our parks have coin operated rides on site for the little ones, so don’t forget your pound coins. You will need these for the coin operated cars and quads, as well as the dodgems and arcade games.

6. Check the ride height chart.

Safety is our top priority at Diggerland, and unfortunately this means that some of our rides have height restrictions. Please note, children over 90cm tall are able to go on 15 out of 20 rides and drives. Some of which they will need to be accompanied by an adult. Don’t worry if you have little ones under 90cm, children under 90cm enter for free! A Diggerland Top Tip is to check which rides you may need to accompany your child/children on before visiting.

Followed Diggerland Top Tips?

Already visited Duggy and Dotty? Finding it hard to keep the kids occupied after an adrenaline-fueled trip to Diggerland?

Have some quiet time and colour in one of our digtastic Diggerland pictures. To view our range of colouring-in sheets, visit https://www.diggerland.com/kids-club/

We would love to see your kids artwork! Make sure to send us a picture of your child’s pictures. Tweet us @Diggerland_UK, post on our Facebook page @Diggerland, or tag us on Instagram @Diggerland_UK.

Devon has an abundance of sandy beaches and beautiful sea views, and is a tourist favourite when choosing a family getaway for the school holidays. Here are a couple of hotels that will make your trip to Devon even more enjoyable.

Upton Lakes and Lodges

Diggerland guide for top places to stay! Upton Lakes

If you’re looking for a tranquil stay and a taste of the country life, then a lodge stay at Upton Lakes is the perfect choice. The combination of modern luxury (many of the lodges offer private hot-tubs!) with the natural outdoors makes for a great family holiday.

Diggerland Devon is less than a 10 minute drive away from Upton Lakes, so make sure to visit us during your stay!

Diggerland Devon Campsite

Diggerland - Diggerland Devon Campsite

Set in the beautiful grounds of Verbeer Manor, the Diggerland Devon Campsite is the best place to stay for our Diggerland guests. However, there is a lot more to do if you are looking for a longer, fun-filled family break. For the fishing enthusiasts, be sure to bring your fishing gear as you will find Diggerlakes just a short stroll from the campsite.

Diggerland Devon Campsite is in the perfect location to explore both the countryside and seaside, and is great for families with a motorhome, or those who simply want a stress-free camping holiday.

Yorkshire

Another historic county, Yorkshire was founded by the Romans and promises great attractions for a family getaway. Looking for scenery and nature? Then visit one of the national parks. Looking for history and heritage? Then visit the cathedral or the National Railway Museum. Whatever you’re looking for, we have the perfect places for you to stay.

Diggerland - Quebecs Luxury Apartments

Just a 20 minute drive from Diggerland Yorkshire, Quebecs Luxury Apartments offer a great alternative to your standard hotel. Treat your family to a stay in your own luxury apartment, with all of the perks of a hotel – 24 hour reception, concierge, and a complete housekeeping service.

Quebecs will deliver your groceries, toiletries or whatever you may need, straight to your room! These apartments are definitely recommended for all of our Digger-mums…

Crowne Plaza Leeds

Diggerland - Crowne Plaza Leeds

Yorkshire doesn’t fall short of luxury stays, so our second choice is another for a family treat. For a hassle-free holiday, Crowne Plaza in Leeds has everything you need all in one hotel. Take a stroll downstairs for dinner in the restaurant, and then head to the bar for evening drinks. More of a day person? Take advantage of the indoor pool and spa facilities, or order room service after a well-deserved lay-in.

Another reason why this hotel has made our list is the ‘Kids stay and eat free’ policy. Kids under 18 stay for free when booking a family room. Those under 13 eat at the restaurant for free. This makes your luxury break a lot more bank-friendly and is perfect for those taking their little-ones to our Diggerland Yorkshire park!

We hope this short guide helps you decide on where to stay when you come to visit us! However if you are still unsure, visit here for more accommodation providers.

Alternatively, if you wish to share your experience of a list-worthy stay when visiting one of our parks, then tweet us @Diggerland_UK, post on our Facebook page @Diggerland, or tag us on instagram @diggerland.uk. We would love to hear more about your Digger-holidays!
