When you are planning a family day out in the UK, the biggest challenge is often finding an activity that keeps everyone happy. At Diggerland, we know that some visitors come for high-octane thrills, while others prefer a more focused, skill-based afternoon. With over twenty different rides and drives available across our parks in Kent, Devon, Durham, and Yorkshire, we have categorised our attractions to help you find the perfect pace for your group.
The Skill-Based Challenges
If you have a steady hand and a competitive streak, our precision challenges are the place to start. These attractions move away from the “sit and wait” style of traditional theme parks and put you directly in control of the machinery.
-
Dippy Ducks: Use a mini digger to hook plastic ducks out of the water. It requires a surprising amount of focus and is a huge hit with all ages, from toddlers to grandparents.
-
StackAttack: This is one for the serious operators. You must navigate a four-wheel-drive AVANT loader to stack giant tyres without toppling them over.
-
Skittles and Buried Treasure: Test your accuracy by knocking down pins with a wrecking ball or digging for hidden loot in the dirt.
These activities are brilliant for building hand-eye coordination and give children and adults a real sense of achievement.
Get Behind the Wheel: Driving Rides
For many of our visitors, the ultimate Diggerland experience is the rare opportunity to actually drive a real vehicle. We provide a massive range of machinery and cars that allow children and adults alike to take the wheel in a safe and supervised environment.
-
Dumpers: Take control of a genuine Thwaites one-tonne dumper truck. These robust machines are a staple on any building site, and here you can navigate them around a purpose-built course.
-
JCB Rides and Drives: This is your chance to operate the iconic yellow machinery that Diggerland is famous for. Getting behind the controls of a backhoe loader is a bucket-list moment for many of our guests.
-
Safari: Hop into one of our Safari SUVs for an off-road adventure. This ride is perfect for those who want to experience driving a larger vehicle over more rugged terrain.
-
Robots: These are our nimble JCB Skid Steer loaders. They are incredibly agile and offer a unique driving challenge as you learn to manoeuvre them through our set course.
-
Mini Tractors: These are ideal for our younger drivers who are just starting out. They offer a gentle and controlled introduction to steering and throttle control.
-
Mini Landrovers: A firm favourite for the little ones, these scaled-down off-roaders allow children to explore their surroundings at a much calmer pace.
-
Go-Karts: If you have a bit of a need for speed, our Go-Karts provide a fantastic driving fix. It is a great way for siblings or friends to enjoy a bit of friendly competition on the track.
-
Joyrider: Get a taste of life on the force in our police-themed Joyrider cars. These are designed to be fun and engaging for children who want to practice their driving skills.
-
Crazy Trikes: For something a bit more high-energy, the Crazy Trikes offer a fast-paced, drifting experience on three wheels. It is a brilliant choice for older children and teens looking for a bit more of a thrill.
High-Energy Thrills and Aerial Views
If you are visiting with an “Adventure Gran” or a teenager who loves a rush, we have attractions that take the excitement to the next level
-
Spindizzy: This is our most famous ride for a reason. You are buckled into a giant excavator bucket and whirled around at high speed. It is intense, dizzying, and completely unique.
-
GroundShuttle: A bumpy, off-road adventure that takes you across a dirt arena in a specially adapted carriage. It is a wild ride that is sure to get the whole family laughing.
Or if you are looking for the aerial views without the high adrenaline, Skyshuttle may be for you.
-
Skyshuttle: If you prefer height over speed, the Skyshuttle lifts you 50 feet into the air. It is a calm, steady way to get a bird’s eye view of the entire park.
Fun for the Youngest Builders (and Their Companions)
We haven’t forgotten the “little diggers” who might not be tall enough for the heavy duty machinery just yet. Diggerland is a fantastic toddler-friendly day out thanks to our dedicated play zones. Many of these attractions are designed for adults to enjoy alongside the children, making them perfect for shared family memories.
-
Train: Hop aboard the Diggerland train for a gentle journey around the park. This is a lovely, relaxed experience that allows grandparents and grandchildren to sit back and take in the sights together.
-
Dig-A-Round: Enjoy a construction-themed spin on our unique carousel. Based on a 806 JCB, this ride offers a nostalgic fairground feel that is a hit with every generation.
-
Dirt Diggers: This is a smaller scale digging experience that lets little ones get a feel for the controls. It is a wonderful opportunity for an older family member to stand by and coach a child through their very first dig, creating a fantastic bonding moment.
-
Mini Landrovers: These scaled-down off-roaders are perfect for younger explorers. They allow children to navigate a set course at a much calmer pace, and they are a great way for parents to walk alongside and cheer on their little drivers.
-
Little Tikes: This dedicated area is filled with colourful vehicles and play equipment specifically for our smallest guests. It is a safe space where toddlers can play freely while adults supervise from the side.
-
Indoor Soft Play: Our soft play zones are ideal for burning off extra energy regardless of the British weather. Children can climb and slide in a secure environment while adults take a well-earned breather nearby with a view of the action.
