Recently, Diggerland Kent Park welcomed special guests to an exclusive preview of a brand-new game, Dig VR. This immersive experience, focused on the thrilling world of digger operation, attracted a wide array of media, including gamers, vloggers, bloggers, and their families, all eager to see what Dig VR had to offer. The day was not only filled with excitement for the game but also with the chance to enjoy Diggerland’s unique rides and attractions.
Buzz at Diggerland Kent Park
This marked the first time a major gaming event was hosted at Diggerland, creating an electric atmosphere as attendees prepared for the day’s activities. Many people, from the game’s creators and designers to an enthusiastic team of volunteers, worked hard to set up Meta Quest 3 headsets. With the addition of comfortable gaming chairs and promotional materials, transforming the park into a virtual gaming hub. Despite the busy setup, the event team shared in the excitement. With everyone looking forward to showcasing Dig VR and providing a memorable experience.
A Warm Welcome for Attendees
As guests streamed into the park, each received a special goody bag containing a Diggerland hard hat and a digger-yellow t-shirt featuring the Dig VR logo. All of which added to the event’s immersive feel. After refreshments at the Dig Inn, the Dig VR team welcomed everyone and outlined the day’s agenda. The attendees were then split into groups, each led by a group leader. While one group explored Dig VR in dedicated side rooms, others were guided around the park to enjoy Diggerland’s signature rides, creating a mix of real-world and virtual excitement for all ages.
Experiencing Dig VR for the First Time
Once attendees were fitted with VR headsets and launched into Dig VR, they were transported into a realistic simulation of operating a digger. From the driver’s seat, users faced their first mini-mission, which involved mastering basic controls to dig, lift, and move soil to a designated location. While the controls took a bit of adjusting, the intuitive design allowed users to quickly become adept at handling the digger. Offering a genuine taste of heavy equipment operation.
Beyond initial tasks, Dig VR provides a variety of engaging game modes. From hooking ducks to placing them in baskets to taking part in ten-pin bowling challenges—all involving diggers. The stunning graphics and high level of immersion left many users captivated. Providing an experience that felt as close to real as virtual reality can get.
Meet the Creator of Dig VR: Leo Zullo
After trying Dig VR, attendees had the chance to meet Leo Zullo, the creative mind behind the game. Leo’s inspiration for Dig VR came during a period spent on his father’s farm. When a tractor proved too weak to knock down a wall, he turned to a hired digger. Which he had to learn to operate on his own. Intrigued by the similarity between the controls of a digger and a video game, Leo saw an opportunity to bridge real-world equipment operation with virtual gaming.
Recognising this gap in the gaming world, Leo partnered with game designers to explore the concept. Ultimately discovering that no other digger-based VR games existed. From that point, the idea for Dig VR quickly evolved. With a full team dedicated to transforming it into the immersive experience seen at Diggerland Kent.
Bringing Dig VR to Life
Turning Leo’s vision into a finished product required hard work, creativity, and collaboration across various teams. From game designers and developers to marketing experts responsible for promoting the game. After months of effort, the result was a polished virtual reality experience that resonated with users at the Diggerland event, judging by the enthusiastic reactions of attendees across the park.
A Game-Changer for Diggerland and Virtual Reality Gaming
Leo Zullo’s vision for Dig VR has introduced a fresh, innovative concept that Diggerland is proud to support. Digging, hauling, and manoeuvring in a realistic VR environment gives players of all ages the thrill of operating real construction equipment in a safe and controlled virtual world. As Diggerland knows, diggers and heavy machinery have an enduring appeal—and Dig VR captures that excitement for gamers and digger enthusiasts alike.
We are very excited for the release of the game on the 24th October and, judging by the vibes around us, that excitement is felt by many others. You can experience the fun of diggers on “real” sites without any of the danger. This is a game that will thrill and entertain all ages, young and old. It is definitely a full 5 stars from Duggy, Dotty and the rest of the Diggerland family.
