Award Winning Attraction Diggerland Wins A Family Traveller Award

Diggerland wins a Family Traveller Award

Popular family theme park Diggerland, with four locations in the UK have won a very prestigious Family Traveller Award.

On November 13th, 2019, Diggerland attended the glitzy Family Traveller Awards. The amazing evening event was held at the London Ice Rink venue in South Kensington. It was a cold November evening, but this didn’t dampen anyone’s moods. As the beautiful Christmas lights twinkled, everyone knew something magical would happen.

The night saw 50 of the top travel experience providers crowned winners. Hosted by renowned singer songwriter, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the whole evening was full of excitement!

In a very new approach to the awards, Family Traveller moved away from the standard set award groups.

This was to make them more meaningful and relevant to how British families are travelling. It’s also a way to adapt to the emerging and changing travel trends. The move gave Family Traveller readers the freedom to nominate the most unique and family friendly travel brands. Which were then grouped into ten clear and well-defined themes.

Over 110,000 votes were cast by Family Traveller readers! All in order to find the 50 Excellence Award Winners. Can you believe this was double the number of votes cast for the 2018 awards!

What Diggerland Yorkshire Guests Say

Excellent experience for all the family.

We had booked an adult JCB driving experience. It was excellent, the equipment was first class, the explanation by the staff (who were both very professional and friendly) was clear and easy to follow. This enabled us to take full advantage of our time there. We thoroughly enjoyed trying the other attractions throughout the complex, and have recommended your attractions to friends and family.

First trip here but won’t be the last!

Visited with six year old at weekend. We all had a brilliant time! I am aware other reviews have felt it was expensive but we felt that it was comparable to theme parks or zoo entries and provided a unique experience. Our grandson got to do so much that he wouldn’t ever have done and we adults loved it too. Queues were short and we never had to wait more than ten mins to get on anything. Highly recommend a trip particularly once your child is more than 1.1 metres high as this opens up more options to do.
Staff were really friendly and welcoming. We loved it!

Charity of the Week - CLIC Sargent

This week, we have decided to dedicate our ‘Charity of the Week’ slot to CLIC Sargent. A wonderful charity in the heart of Devon and Cornwall, who aim to bring awareness to the unheard struggles that face children with cancer.

So keep reading, and find out how you can help with CLIC Sargent’s Challenge 60!

What do they do?

When cancer strikes young lives, CLIC Sargent helps limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health. Cancer affects every part of life, for the young person and their families – relationships, confidence, money, education, and work.

CLIC Sargent provides specialist support, tailored to help and guide each young cancer patient and their family, the way they need it. CLIC Sargent is on hand to help families with free accommodation, getting benefits, and help with treatment closer to home.

On top of this, CLIC Sargent helps in the day to day, aiding with educational, financial and mental health support.

CLIC Sargent support anyone under the age of 25 who is diagnosed with cancer. Your support will help CLIC Sargent continue to fight for young lives against cancer so they can thrive, and not just survive.

And why do they give their time so selflessly to do it?

Cancer is shocking, overwhelming, isolating and completely unfair – especially when you’re young. It takes over your life. That is why everyone 25 and under with cancer, and their families, are entitled to CLIC Sargent support.

Childhood cancer doesn’t discriminate. Today, 12 more children and young people will hear the devastating news that they have cancer. Families facing childhood cancer are immediately thrown into a terrifying world of surgeries, chemotherapy, needles and appointments.

CLIC Sargent fights tirelessly for children and young people with cancer, often when they feel they can’t. CLIC Sargent do this individually, locally and nationally, so that they can focus on the important things, like getting well.

Diggerland at Plantworx 2019

Diggerland are very excited to say that we exhibited our unique rides and drives at the UK’S Largest Construction Machinery Convention – PlantWorx 2019, and what a major success it was!

PlantWorx is a Construction Equipment Association (CEA) event based in Peterborough. The event is organised for businesses to showcase their craft amongst other like minded people, bringing all of those in the construction industry together. The event showcased some brilliant new plant technology, and the wet weather throughout the three days didn’t dampen the people’s passion for machinery!

In amongst the bustling, busy PlantWorx crowd were our big brothers, H.E. Services –  showing us all why they’re the world leaders in Digger Hire! Supporting H.E Group were more of our family, BuyADigger. Alongside us all were some fantastic construction and heavy machinery companies such as John Deere, JCB and Hydrema. It was a dream day for all of us construction fanatics.

Displays at PlantWorx 2019

The exhibition had some wonderful displays such as:

  • The Simulation Zone – The Zone consisted of six screens replicating a working construction site, designed to give you a complete immersive virtual experience!
  • Classic Plant Display – We took a step back in time to see the archives of the classic machines, that inspired us to design the modern machines we see today.
  • Primary and Secondary Engineering – A perfect example of the wonderful things on offer in the Modern Age of STEM degrees.

While PlantWorx brought everyone in the industry together, Diggerland brought buckets of fun and education for everyone with our Mini Diggerland. One of our mantras is aimed at getting kids and young adults into more vocational subjects, and this was the perfect opportunity for us to provide, not only children but adults too, a whole new experience. It was a complete success and thanks to our fantastic team, it was a very welcome addition to PlantWorx Student Day.
