As World Environment Day approaches on June 5th, Diggerland is excited to share our ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and protect our planet. At Diggerland, we believe that every day is an opportunity to contribute to a greener, cleaner world. Harnessing the Power of the Sun
One of our proudest achievements is the installation of solar panels on the roofs of our theme park buildings. Thanks to our partnerships with Sun Power Services and Solarvault, these solar panels help us reduce our carbon footprint by generating clean, renewable energy. This sustainable energy source powers many of our park’s operations, ensuring that our visitors can enjoy their day knowing they are supporting an eco-friendly establishment.
Charging Ahead with Electric Vehicle Support
For our guests driving electric vehicles, we offer free electric vehicle charging points (provided by EVision Electric Vehicles). By providing this service, we aim to encourage more people to make the switch to electric cars, reducing their reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to lower emissions. Our charging stations make it convenient and affordable for our visitors to choose green transportation options.
Embracing Biomass Energy
In addition to solar power, we utilise biomass boilers to heat our facilities. Biomass energy is a sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels, using organic materials like wood pellets and agricultural waste. This method not only reduces our reliance on non-renewable energy sources but also helps manage waste sustainably.
Supporting Local Wildlife
Our commitment to the environment extends beyond energy efficiency. We have planted special plants around the park to support our bee population. Bees are vital pollinators, and their health is crucial for maintaining biodiversity and food security. By creating a bee-friendly habitat, we contribute to their survival. As well as this, we have bug hotels around the park for wildlife.
Additionally, we have designated peaceful areas within the park to provide a sanctuary for local wildlife. These areas offer a natural habitat for birds, small mammals, and insects, promoting biodiversity and helping to preserve the ecosystem.
Promoting Recycling
To further our sustainability efforts, we have placed recycling bins throughout Diggerland. We encourage all our visitors to use these bins for their waste, helping us minimise landfill use and promote recycling. By making it easy and convenient to recycle, we hope to inspire our guests to adopt similar practices in their daily lives.
