Staying Cool & Having Fun At Diggerland This Summer

Taking the kids out for a fun day at Diggerland this summer is a great way to build your family’s emotional bond, according to studies. The UK has already been hit by a record-breaking heatwave and the Met Office has predicted more heatwaves are to come throughout August. Diggerland has plenty of ice cream options to help you and your kids stay cool during your visit. But you should also follow these tips to enjoy your day out.

STAY HYDRATED

You and your family should drink at least 3 litres of water on a hot day out. But you can also stay hydrated and cool with other refreshing drinks. The kids will love a fruity, multi-coloured slush in a bone-shaped cup that they can walk around the park with. If you need a bit of Dutch courage to ride the Skyshuttle, you can devour an ice-cold beer. Or, if you’ve been busy picking up skittles and driving JCB Robots, you can relax with a cold glass of wine. If it’s an energy boost you need to get you through the rest of the day, an iced frappe is a perfect solution.

HAVE FUN WITH WATER

Water isn’t just for drinking. It’s for staying cool too. Portable misting fans are a go-to option for families as they blow a wet mist into your face which is ideal when you build up a sweat on StackAttack. You could even cool the kids down by spraying them regularly with a water gun. The wrists, face, and feet are good places to aim for to keep them cool. Make sure you watch your back, though, because your little ones are sure to want to grab the water gun off you and spray you back.

COOLING TOWELS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Cooling towels are a great way to stay cool on a hot day. Simply run them under cold water, wring them out, and wrap them around your body. There are so many different ways you can wear a cooling towel, including around your shoulders, around your head, and around your torso. And, if they start to dry out, simply pop into one of the park’s toilets and re-wet them under the sink. Why not get every member of your family a different brightly coloured cooling towel so you’re all easy to spot? Or how about getting custom ones made with the Diggerland logo on? You could even take them away with you on other fun days out. An African safari with elephants, lions, gazelles, and hyenas is sure to be a hot one. As is riding a horse on the beach and attending a music festival in the sun. These are activities that are often on people’s bucket lists, so you can tick them off while having a great time with your family.

TAKE AN EARLY LUNCH

Most Brits have their lunch between 12 pm and 2 pm. The park’s restaurants are normally at their busiest during this period and there will be lots of families enjoying a picnic, too. All these bodies can increase the temperature around you. By taking an early lunch, you’ll beat the crowds. The food you eat will also help you stay cool. Try to choose water-based foods, such as salads, fruit, and vegetables. Opting for a picnic? Have fun with the kids when preparing it by using digger shape cutters on watermelon, apple, pineapple, and cucumber to make some appetising snacks.

Diggerland is a great day out for the whole family. This summer is set to be a very hot one, so make sure you’re prepared so you can stay cool and have fun when you visit.
