Did you know today is International Friendship Day?! Diggerland UK is home to two digger lovers who are the best of friends – Duggy and Dotty! Our dig-tastic mascots have been friends for over 20 years and love a fun day out together.
Launched in 2011, International Friendship Day is a day to appreciate our friends, family and colleagues. How can you join in and celebrate International Friendship Day? Here’s some of Duggy and Dotty’s favourite activities.
REACH OUT!
One of the easiest, and best ways to get involved today is to reach out to your friends and family. You could give your friends a call or drop them a text message today to check in on them. This is especially important during the long six-week school holidays. Why wait till September to catch up?
You could even arrange to have a day out with your friends over the break. Perhaps you fancy a sunny trip to the beach or to a lovely air-conditioned cinema! Either way, it’s a great way to make use of your time off.
RELAX AND WATCH A MOVIE
Speaking of movies, hosting an at home movie night on International Friendship Day is a brilliant idea for older kids and teens. Pick up some snacks and arrange for your friends to come over for the day or evening. You could pick a movie from your preferred genre or one that stars your favourite actors.
Otherwise, why not have a look at watching a film that has some unique friendships within it! We’re thinking of the 80s classic where Elliot befriends E.T. and has to protect him from the world. For younger children, Disney’s UP is a brilliant option and shows an unlikely friendship between young and outgoing Russel and cranky Carl Fredricksen.
SING AND DANCE!
There’s no better way to lift the mood than to whack on some music and have a singalong – and it’s even more fun with company! You’ll often hear music playing throughout our Diggerland UK parks as Duggy and Dotty love to have a boogie. Some of their favourite songs about friendship are You’ve Got a Friend In Me, Wannabe and I’ll Be There For You.
