It’s going to be hot, hot, hot this summer! While the heatwave seems to be cooling down ever so slightly, we’re still expected to get some lovely warm days over the summer. Plus, now the school holidays are in full swing, we’re all looking forward to a brilliant family day out.
As a large majority of our rides and drives are based outside, we know how important it is to protect yourself in this heat. Here are our top tips to keep you safe and make sure you have a fun day out!
KEEP HYDRATED
Our number one rule for all our guests is to make sure you’re drinking enough water! It can be easy to get caught up in the thrills of Diggerland, but it’s extremely important to stay hydrated. We recommend all guests bring a bottle of water or two to ensure they’re drinking enough throughout the day. You can also visit our Dig Inn cafe to refill your water bottles and purchase any other beverages.
TOP UP YOUR SUNCREAM
We’d all love to take advantage of the UK having a few days of sunny weather. However, a trip to Diggerland isn’t exactly the place you want to top up your tan. Or worse, risk being burned! As we all know, the sun’s rays can be extremely harmful and dangerous to our skin so it’s important to put on sun cream.
What’s more is it’s more important to make sure you’re actively topping up your sun cream throughout the day. Again, we know this is something that can get forgotten throughout the day.
WEAR SUITABLE CLOTHING
As with any family day out, you need to make sure that you and the little ones are dressed appropriately. Remember, as well as keeping the heat in mind, we’d advise all guests to dress suitability for driving JCB diggers! Unfortunately, that means we’d recommend not wearing your new pair of flip flops for this family day out.
Instead, we’d suggest pulling out a pair of trainers. It will be much more comfortable while you’re operating our rides and drives. Our essentials for a family day out at Diggerland also include hats and sunglasses!
TAKE A BREAK
In this kind of heat, it’s important to take regular breaks when you feel you need it. Remember, to consider when the kids might need a break too. Our Diggerland parks have a lot to offer, but there’s no need to cram it all in super quickly!
We’re open from 10am to 5pm which means there’s plenty of time to get around enjoying each ride. We have indoor and outdoor seating areas on-site, so be sure to make use of them!
It’s also important to take regular breaks to avoid feeling overheated or sick throughout the day. If you, or any of your party, do feel sick, don’t hesitate to speak to a member of our Diggerland team.
END THE DAY WITH A COOL TREAT
What’s the best way to end a family day out?! With an ice cream, of course! We have ice cream vans on-site that can provide you with delicious and refreshing sweet treats to round off your day!
SAVE MONEY ON DIGGERLAND ENTRY TICKETS
There’s only one thing better than a family day out to Diggerland – getting a discount on Diggerland admission tickets! By pre-booking tickets online, you can save over £6 per person, compared to paying on the day.
At Diggerland, anyone over the height of 90cm will need a general admission ticket. When you pre-book online, these are £25.95 per person. However, when you choose to buy your tickets on the day of your visit, these are £32 per person.
All guests under the height of 90cm will enter free of charge. We also offer a free ticket for carers entering Diggerland with a disabled guest. You can book your visit online here!
