Entertaining Toddlers At Diggerland!

A recent survey found that 74% of children spend less than an hour playing outside each day. This is why it is important to encourage the little ones to get out in nature when they are really young. There are plenty of outdoor rides and activities at Diggerland that even the smallest members of your family can enjoy. You can even spend some time camping at Diggerland Devon. Sleeping under the stars and appreciating the birds, wildlife, trees and plants. Spending time with your toddlers at Diggerland, you can help them to explore the great outdoors, and develop curiosity and wonder about the world around them.

Enjoy drawing the trees

If you have toddlers with you when you are camping at Diggerland, you can easily entertain them with some fun art. Have a go at drawing simple tree shapes. There are Ash and Oak trees around the Diggerland Devon campsite to help. Using crayons and paper, or even a stick to make marks in the sand, start drawing the trunk of the tree first. You can then fill out the branches and leaves. You can even collect some of the leaves with your little one and talk about the shapes of the leaves and how they feel in your fingers. Toddlers might also enjoy doing bark rubbings using crayons and paper, creating fascinating textures and colours.

Take the train

Little ones will thoroughly enjoy a ride on the Diggerland Train, taking them safely around the park. The Diggerland Train is pulled along by a Thwaites 1 Tonne Dumper and is suitable for the whole family. If your little one is less than 80cm tall they should ride along on your lap in the main carriage. If they are bigger and can sit up unaided, your toddler may enjoy sitting in their own personal carriage. They can even “drive” using the steering wheel and even beeping the noisy horn. The Diggerland Train runs all day, so there will be plenty of opportunity to take a ride, or even several journeys around the Diggerland Park.

Diggerland Indoor Play Area

Mini tractors and soft play

Having a go on the mini tractors is a lovely family experience that you can do with your toddler. The custom-made tractors have their own characters and names, including “Daisy,” “Red,” and “Olly.” They make a lovely rumbling sound while you drive around the park, and you can get some wonderful photos of you and your little one enjoying your Diggerland visit.

If it’s a rainy day, your toddler might also enjoy a visit to the soft play centre at Diggerland. There is a separate area for 1-3 year olds. This is a chance for them to explore and develop their coordination in a fun and exciting way.
