Diggerland Awarded TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2014

Diggerland UK Theme Parks have received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence 2014 Award for each of their Diggerland sites, located at Devon, Durham, Kent and Yorkshire.

The award, which honours customer service excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Establishments awarded the Certificate of Excellence are located all over the world and represent the upper echelon of businesses listed on the TripAdvisor® website.

When selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honorees that takes into account reviews ratings.  Only the top 10% of businesses receive the award and must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, volume and recency of reviews. Additional criteria include a business’ tenure and popularity ranking on the site.

“Winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for all four of our Diggerland theme parks is a true source of pride for the entire team at Diggerland. We would like to thank all of our past visitors and guests who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor. The award is based solely on our customer’s reviews of the Diggerland parks. There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by our customers. Winning this award gives us an increased amount of confidence to our business. Our aim is to continue this level of customer satisfaction in order to win the award again for 2015.”

Said Sherene Garvin-Mack, Marketing Manager of Diggerland UK.

Diggerland USA Opens

A theme park opening next month in New Jersey will let kids, and adults, move some earth with REAL excavating equipment.

The owners of Diggerland USA outside Philadelphia say it’s the first theme park of its kind in the US, though many of its plans are based on four similar parks in the United Kingdom. Unlike a more intense heavy equipment playground in Las Vegas called Dig This, Diggerland caters to both kids and adults.

Visitors who are at least 4 feet tall can take a turn driving a backhoe around a course with the help of a staff member or they can dig in sand piles with a sevon-tonne excavator. Besides letting customers dig, the park also has the Spindizzy, a ride where passengers can spin at high speed strapped to the bucket of a specially designed earth-mover or go more slowly in the Dig-a-Round, a digger-themed carousel.

The machines are the real thing, not miniatures or replicas. But they are modified to limit their functionality and danger. The machines used for digging are not to be driven. Those that can be driven have safeguards so they won’t go too fast. And park employees can remotely shut down the machines.

The New Jersey park is owned by Ilya Girlya and his family, who also run a nearby water park. The new Diggerland theme park is set to open June 14, and full-day tickets are $35. Other attractions include standard carnival games re-imagined, including a duck pond and a bowling game using a small excavator.

Diggerland USA Announces Opening Date!

North America’s first-ever construction-themed adventure park will open its doors to the public, Saturday, June 14, 2014. Diggerland USA covers 14 acres of centrally-located land in Camden County, NJ and offers visitors the opportunity to operate heavy machinery in a safe, family-friendly environment.

Once the Diggerland USA gates open at 10:00 AM on Saturday, visitors will have access to 23 on-site attractions, most of which are comprised of modified JCB heavy construction equipment. The rides have been engineered to allow parents and children to safely dig, drive and ride familiar, real-sized construction equipment.

The decision to build the unique park was made by the owners and senior management of the neighboring indoor and outdoor water park, Sahara Sam’s Oasis, who leveraged the blueprint set forth by the four Diggerland parks in the United Kingdom.

“The opportunity to take the concept of a construction theme park and make it our own was very exciting for us,” said Ilya Girlya, CEO of Sahara Sam’s and Diggerland USA.

The Girlya family owns and operates SAMBE General Contracting which is overseeing the construction of Diggerland USA.

“My family has a very personal connection to the project, just as we did with Sahara Sam’s five years ago,” Girlya said. “Construction has been in my family for many years so it was a natural fit for us to build a construction theme park.”

Plans for Diggerland USA were officially unveiled just a few months ago in January and since, the park has seen significant progress, particularly this month. Local residents driving down Cooper Road can now see the black-and-yellow Diggerland USA sign with attractions and indoor facilities spanning the landscape behind it.

More notably, however, were the ride equipment deliveries received over the past two weeks that ensure the final touches to the park are completed in time for the grand opening in 40 days.

“Six months ago we returned from the United Kingdom and concurred that this was a project that would be a huge success,” said Chris Peters, Director of PR and Marketing. “The pace at which this park has come together is unheard of. It’s been a remarkable experience working with this team, our partners in the UK, and a 5-star global equipment manufacturer like JCB.”

A preview day for members of the media will take place Thursday, May 22. Press interested in attending the event should contact the Public Relations department for details via email PublicRelations@DiggerlandUSA.com or by visiting the Diggerland Newsroom.

Diggers Invade North America!

A brand new Diggerland theme park is set to open its gates in West Berlin, New Jersey. The owners of Sahara Sam’s Oasis, a year-round indoor and outdoor water-park, have teamed up with H.E. SERVICES, the UK-based creators of Diggerland, to provide a home for the new adventure park in the United States.

Masterhitch Europe Limited, sister company to H.E. SERVICES, has been buzzing with activity behind the scenes manufacturing and engineering the new construction attractions for the Diggerland USA park, over 50 units in total. The rides have now begun their journey across the Atlantic from the UK. Masterhitch Europe Limited has proven themselves leaders in the design and manufacturing of large excavator attachments and parts for construction, earth moving and demolition equipment.

The new Diggerland USA theme park site is centrally located next to the existing indoor and outdoor waterpark, Sahara Sam’s, in West Berlin, NJ. Officials have yet to reveal an official opening date for the park beyond “early summer;” however Diggerland USA website has begun taking birthday party and large group reservations with dates as early as June 14th 2014.

All of the Diggerland UK locations have opened for the 2014 season and feature over 100 diggers, dumpers and other mechanical attractions available for your amusement. For the ultimate adrenaline rush, take a ride on “Spindizzy,” whirl around in the “Dig-a-Round,” test your driving skills on the “Dumper Trucks,” or get behind the wheel of an eight and half-tonne JCB.

“We’re very excited to be working with the Diggerland USA team, building the foundations for an extraordinary and unique partnership,” said Hugh Edeleanu, H.E. SERVICES’ CEO. “The attraction is unlike anything that currently exists and will undoubtedly become a fantastic destination for all.” Hugh continues, “Today, Diggerland has invaded America, tomorrow it will be the world!”

5 Things Diggerland 1st Timers Should Know

Diggerland reopens for a brand new season on Saturday February 15th. Though we look forward to new events and new experiences, some things never change! So here’s a handy guide to all the Diggerland newbies having their first muddy good adventure at the world’s most unique adventure park!

1. No heels!

Diggerland is all outdoors, and our diggers can get quite muddy, especially in the rain. This is not the place to be dressing up in your Sunday best, so just throw on a baggy jumper and some trainers and give the mirror a day off! But avoid white trainers if you can, or bring an extra pair – trust us!

2. Bring your own lunch. Or not. We have you covered!

Whatever you wish to do we can accommodate. Every park has its own on site cafeteria selling a variety of hot and cold food, but if you would rather bring your picnic that’s ok too! We have outside seating for you to sit and tuck in with the family, so you don’t need to break the bank to enjoy a feast.

But if you do wish to indulge you can come and go as you please – simply get your hand stamped and you can pop out for food and return as many times as you like throughout the day.

3. Ride Spindizzy BEFORE lunch!

You might think you can handle anything, but for everyone’s sake just trust us on this one!

4. Check your diaries!

Diggerland is open every weekend from February to November, and on select weekdays around school holiday periods. Before you visit, check our opening times to avoid a wasted journey! You can also pre-book in advance for specific days and save a few pennies.

5. No need to rush!

Unlike other theme parks, Diggerland prides itself on shorter queuing times. Even when busy you won’t usually be waiting more than 30 mins for the most popular rides. This means in a day you can get around the whole park, twice, and take advantage of the unlimited rides without being rushed off your feet!

Duggy and Dotty's Very Muddy Christmas!

Winter is a quiet time of year for Duggy and Dotty. The parks are closed and all of our Marshals are with their friends and families. With so much spare time on their hands, Duggy and Dotty have been excitedly preparing for Christmas!

The advent calendars are sitting on their mantelpiece just above the empty stockings (because Santa hasn’t been yet!), and the Christmas music is on repeat. Luckily, thanks to Diggerland, getting ready for Christmas has never been easier for Duggy!

Top priority was getting the house lights and decorations up. Most people have to dust off the ladder and make a day of it, but when you have a shed load of diggers is much easier! Not only does Sky Shuttle provide relaxing views of the park for Diggerland visitors, but also comes in very handy when putting lights on the roof! As for planting the Christmas tree, well that’s what the brand new Komatsu excavators are for!

Now the house is full of festive cheer it’s time to start shopping, but as Dotty will tell you present buying is not Duggy’s strength! However, this year he is sending everyone he knows a Diggerland Gift Voucher – they are unique, lots of fun, and great value! As for the stocking fillers, he found plenty of nifty ideas in the gift shop.

Before we know it Christmas Day will roll around, and the most important meal of the year will need to be cooked. There are only a few things you can’t get at Diggerland, and a slap up Christmas feast is one of them! The café is closed and a burger doesn’t scream Merry Christmas, so as Dotty was running around the supermarket Duggy put the final touches to his homemade Christmas pudding.

As far as after dinner entertainment goes, Duggy & Dotty put on the best show in town! With over 18 exciting rides and drives for the whole family it beats charades!

Though Diggerland is closed over winter all four parks reopen on Saturday February 15th and you can preorder your gift vouchers now. Duggy, Dotty and everyone at Diggerland wish you a very merry Christmas, and we will see you all next year!
