SCHOOL TRIPS & GROUP VISITS

A structured school trip, club or group visit to a DIGGERLAND Adventure Park can be as educational as it is enjoyable and entertaining.

At DIGGERLAND, students & pupils and other visiting club & groups’ members get to enjoy hands-on experience of driving and/or operating real diggers and dumpers in a variety of fun and innovative ways as well as enjoying thrills and spills on all the other specially adapted rides and drives.

  • There are currently four UK, Diggerland Adventure Parks from which to choose for your school trip, club or group visit destination, these being: Kent, Devon, Durham and Yorkshire, and there will soon be a fifth Park opening in Worcestershire.

A visit to DIGGERLAND allows students, pupils and club & group members to get practical experience of what it is like being “180” & “360” excavators’ operators and dumper and backhoe-loader drivers, and they will also gain an idea of some of the dangers and hazards of working on construction sites with or near large heavy-plant, allowing teachers to explain and stress the importance of knowing and following the appropriate Health & Safety at Work procedures and practices.

Other topics that can be covered include:

  • Overview of the different types & sizes of large heavy-plant and their applications
  • The principles, mechanics and applications of hydraulics
  • How clutches and gearboxes work and their various uses
  • Centre of Gravity – and how this might affect a machine’s stability
  • Footprint and Ground Bearing Pressure
  • The different types of suspension and why suspension is necessary
  • Tyre types, tread patterns and pressures and how these can affect a machine’s traction and performance
