Pokemon at Diggerland

Disclaimer: Please note Diggerland do not claim to have a Mewtwo PokemonGo character located at any of the Diggerland parks. Please do not actively pay for admission to try and find this legendary Pokemon. Nobody knows the whereabouts of this Pokemon and Diggerland is in no way definitely stating that a Mewtwo is located at any of the parks. If you are lucky enough to catch one at any of the 4 UK Diggerland theme parks, well you are in for a real treat!

Kids have been going crazy at Diggerland theme parks, as a new mobile game that has become a global phenomenon was unleashed in the UK.

Pokemon Go, a game that allows players to use the GPS on their mobile phones to catch Pokemon in order to train and battle, has taken the world by storm.

Created by the owner of Google Maps, the app works by the player walking to various locations to collect Pokemon. Landmarks such as churches, attractions, small and large businesses have all become hotspots, with people visiting all kinds of places just to collect these awesome virtual critters.

Children and even parents at Diggerland have been downloading the new Pokemon game so that they can catch all of the Pokemon located at Diggerland UK-based theme parks.

A ‘Gym’ is also located at Diggerland, a big blue tower that cannot be missed on one’s smart phone when playing the app. The ‘Gym’ is an arena for battling other trainers Pokemon to try and achieve ‘prestige’ points.

Diggerland decided to ask some customers what they thought of the game.

There seemed to be pros and cons with some customers thinking the app was a good idea to get children outdoors and moving, with other parents expressing concerns that the app could be dangerous in the sense that children would not concentrate on their surroundings and may face dangerous situations.

Diggerland’s Digital Marketing Executive, Celia Kelly has some advice for parents allowing children to play the Pokemon Go game or indeed for the parents playing the game themselves. “It’s a great game and wonderful to see children and adults getting involved, but just be careful when catching Pokemon to keep your wits about you. Remember not to play when driving, crossing roads or whilst supervising children, as this game could be a real distraction.”

Kent’s Diggerland Adventure Theme Park Sponsor Invicta Panthas Kids Rugby Team

Kent’s Diggerland Adventure Theme Park is sponsoring a rapidly growing Rugby League club in Kent.

The Invicta Panthas are one of only two Rugby League clubs in the county. Founded in January 2014, the club registered over 60 players across two age groups (U11 & U13’s), in its first season.

As from 26th February 2016, Diggerland is now sponsoring four of the clubs teams, the U12’s. U13’s, U14’s and U15’s.

The Panthers are a CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club) non-profit club, who aim to provide sporting opportunities to all members of the local community.

The clubs ambition is to be able to facilitate participation no matter what the player’s ability or circumstances. Indeed aside from helping the club to provide the facilities and equipment, a donation or sponsorship will enable the club to provide scholarship/part scholarship type memberships for players from families who genuinely struggle to afford to afford their child’s access to sport, and who otherwise might miss out. The scholarship/part scholarship type memberships, will not be based on the player’s size or ability, but purely on their economics situation.

Invicta Panthas Chairman, Rob Faux said ‘The Panthers are delighted to have entered into this partnership with Diggerland. Diggerland are all about delivering fun to families and children, which fits right into the Panthers ethos’.

Diggerland’s sponsorship will go towards a new kit and training equipment such as balls, cones, sprinting parachutes and tackle bags.

Diggerland supports KM Treasure Chest

Diggerland adventure park is supporting the KM Treasure Chest fundraising scheme for charities in Kent.

Sherene Garvin-Mack and Andy Ballantyne of Diggerland join Wowzer the KM Walk to School mascot to celebrate the attraction supporting KM Treasure Chest. Watched by Duggy and Dotty the Diggerland mascots.

The Strood based attraction, which gives kids and grown-ups the chance to ride and drive real full size construction machinery, has teamed up with the KM Charity Team on its popular fundraising initiative.

Treasure Chest supplies raffle and auction prizes to PTAs, charities and voluntary groups.

Diggerland UK’s marketing manager Sherene Garvin-Mack said:

“We are delighted to be in partnership with the KM Charity Team. There are so many charities and good causes that all work exceptionally hard to benefit the community. We will be donating a number of family theme park tickets throughout the year.”

Simon Dolby of the KM Charity Team said:

“It’s wonderful that Diggerland are so committed to helping good causes in Kent. Treasure Chest helps charities to generate much needed funds to continue their fantastic work.”

Soap Star Has Muddy Good Fun

Last week Diggerland Kent played host to former Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett, who was launching the new 888casino’s Millionaire Genie game. She was on a date with Troy Stapleton, whose wish was granted by 888.com and ourselves to go digger racing with the actress-turned-model.

Andy Ballantyne, Managing Director of Diggerland, called it “the best photo shoot we’ve ever done”, and even managed to get a little signed picture, which is now carefully stored under lock and key!

Miss Pallett shot to fame as Jo Sugden in the ITV soap Emmerdale, but she only clinched the job by lying on her CV about being a whizz on a motorbike. The show’s bosses wrote the bike into her character’s story and only found out on the first day of filming that she barely knew how to sit on one and had fibbed about her licence. So once she got behind the wheel of our Dumper Trucks we were all on high alert!

But despite falling out of a scoop while trying to bat away a wasp, screaming her lungs out as she crashed a JCB up a hill and almost falling out the window of a 9 tonne JCB as it turned on one side, it was a fun-filled day for all!

Diggerland is the UK’s ultimate adventure park where people of all ages and abilities can ride and drive real full-size diggers. With over 18 different attractions including giant diggers, tractors, Go-Karts, Dumper Trucks, the Skyshuttle, and our world famous Spindizzy, Diggerland promises a great day out for the whole family! And wherever you are, it’s never too far away from your nearest park:
